The infographic to our Media Power List 2025 provides a snapshot of our in-depth analysis of the media coverage and social media presence of carehome.co.uk's Top 20 Mid-size Care Home Groups 2025.

Media

In total, the Top 20 Mid-size Care Home Groups 2025 secured over 900 pieces of media coverage between July 2024 and July 2025. Articles in local media dominated as a proportion of this figure - accounting for almost three-quarters of the 900 total.

Of all care groups, Carebase dominated in total coverage. Overall, it was the focus of 192 articles across national, local and trade publications between July 2024 and July 2025.

Carebase, Berkley Care Group, and Care South ranked highest for the average number of articles per home (total number of media mentions divided by the number of homes), while Signature Senior Lifestyle topped the rankings for media coverage specifically regarding the wider care group, with 29 articles.

The Spinney Care Home (Carebase) secured the most coverage of all individual care homes in the time period, totalling 101.

Social Media

The total social media following of the Top 20 Mid-size Care Home Groups stood at 293,920. Facebook followers dominated this total - accounting for more than 60 per cent of overall followers.

Compared to the 2024 Social Media Power List, Facebook grew significantly as a percentage of overall followers, while Instagram suffered the opposite fate.

Carebase topped the social media rankings with a total of 43,800 followers, split largely across Facebook and X. Following closely behind was Berkley Care Group, who had a total of 41,200 followers.

Oakland Care had the most followers by group or ‘corporate’ account, totalling 18,387.

Fernhill House - a member of the Berkley Care Group - topped the rankings, with 9,500 followers. These came exclusively from Facebook.
