Global media mentions of fiduciary services have grown 294 per cent since 1998, driven by wealth management complexities and globalisation. Three inflection points stand out: the Global Financial Crisis, Dodd-Frank legislation, and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jersey led offshore financial mentions in the 1980s with an 85 per cent share, declining to 40 per cent by the 2010s as Cayman and other centres gained ground. Guernsey peaked at a tenth of mentions in 2012 and 2017.

Ogier leads with 135 articles — a third more than second-placed Mourant. The top five firms capture 53 per cent of total mentions. Local and regional outlets account for 60% of all coverage; the Guernsey Press alone provided 29% of the total.

Since 2019, UK social media users grew most on Facebook. LinkedIn, popular with professionals, is projected to grow 22 per cent globally by 2028 — reinforcing its dominance as the channel of choice for fiduciary firms.

LinkedIn dominates users aged 25–34, who represent 47.5 per cent of its UK audience — the core professional cohort for fiduciary services. Instagram and Facebook show similar peaks for users up to age 34.

LinkedIn accounts for 85% of the combined 491,733 followers across the top 20 firms. Oak Group leads the social ranking with 9,513 followers across all platforms, posting frequently on employee recognition and awareness events.

The US leads fiduciary-related searches across all three categories, representing 35 per cent of Fiduciary Services searches (1,400/month), 43 per cent of Private Wealth Management (12,170/month), and 54 per cent of Trust Services (29,310/month). India ranks fourth overall.

HSBC Channel Islands & Isle of Man tops the domain rating (DR 83), a key measure of website authority and search engine visibility. 77 per cent of firms above the average DR also ranked highly in terms of social media followers.
