Ellis Coughlan is a Senior Political and Media Consultant at Bridgehead and is responsible for managing clients, securing high-quality coverage, and engaging with the media. He also manages clients’ online presence, including social media channels and online profiles.
Ellis began his career in public relations at Bridgehead. Before that, he graduated with a degree in Politics and International Relations from University College London (UCL), where he honed his writing and communication skills.
Ellis never planned to enter comms as a profession, but after starting at Bridgehead, the variety of work coupled with his passion for politics and interest in the news are what encouraged him to stay. Additionally, his previous experience as a teacher and in the adult social care sector make him well-suited for clients in the education and social care sectors.
As the Editor of Comment Central, and a regular contributor, Ellis has written several opinion pieces on a range of topics from knife crime to the war in Ukraine.
Personalised approach
My approach to understanding new clients is akin to building a friendship. I like to know their journey, their interests, and their character, so I can understand their point of view. Maintaining a friendly relationship allows each party to be candid and fosters an open, honest dialogue, which is essential for a strong, enduring partnership.
Maximising results through well-informed insights
Thoroughly understanding a client’s background and industry enables us to make strategic and relevant contributions. This deep knowledge allows me to deliver targeted work which aligns with the client’s needs. Ultimately, this informed approach ensures the very best outcomes for both the client and the agency.
Embracing simplicity
After three years embracing academia, I was accustomed to using complex vocabulary. However, I soon realised that straightforward, concise language can often be far more effective and persuasive.
