GUERNSEY EDITION

The Guernsey Deputy Scorecard: every manifesto promise made by every States of Guernsey deputy, checked against how they actually voted. Ranked by who keeps their word — not who talks the most.

39 DEPUTIES TRACKED 511 PROMISES LOGGED 263 VOTE-LINKED
WHAT IT IS

A live fact-check on every deputy’s promises.

The Scorecard logs every public manifesto commitment made by a States deputy, then links it to the closest matching vote in the Assembly. Each link is graded for how directly it bears on the promise — so a loosely related vote can’t unfairly swing someone’s record either way. Deputies are ranked by kept-rate: the share of their vote-linked promises they’ve actually kept.

THE LEADERBOARD

Who actually keeps their word.

Ranking is by kept-rate, not raw promises kept — a deputy with four firm commitments kept can’t be beaten by one who made eighty vague ones. A floor of five vote-linked promises applies before anyone is ranked at all. Tap any deputy for their full breakdown.

Worth reading as its own story rather than a straight “worst record”. Also currently in prison and not standing for re-election, which is noted here separately rather than folded into the ranked comparison above. No committee mandate.
INSUFFICIENT RECORD

These 9 deputies have fewer than five vote-linked promises — the minimum before a kept-rate is considered reliable enough to rank. They sit outside the table above rather than gaming either end of it on a single vote.

THE COMMITTEE PRESIDENT DIVIDE

Leading a committee doesn’t guarantee keeping your word.

Presidents carry the most influence over policy — and the most promises to answer for. Their kept-rates split sharply.

METHODOLOGY

How a vote earns the right to score a promise.

01

Log every public promise

Manifesto commitments and public pledges are logged per deputy as individual, dated promises — 511 in total across all 39 deputies.

02

Match promises to votes

Each promise is checked against the Assembly’s voting record for a matching debate. 263 of 511 have been linked to date; the rest await a relevant vote.

03

Grade the relevance

Every match is graded high, medium or low for how directly it bears on the promise. Only high and medium links count toward a verdict — low-relevance links are shown for context on a deputy’s page but don’t move their score.

04

Rank by kept-rate, with a floor

Deputies need at least five scored promises before they’re ranked at all — thinner records sit below an “insufficient record” divider rather than gaming the top or bottom of the table on a single vote.
